Join Black Cinema Club HTX as we continue our residency at the historic River Oaks Theatre with a special screening of Blade.
Starring Wesley Snipes, Blade helped redefine what a Black superhero could look like on the big screen and remains one of the most iconic genre films of the era.
Since we’re getting close to Halloween, we’re leaning into the theme with a Halloween costume contest and a Blade look-alike contest before the screening.

For the first time, the American Black Film Festival Pop-Up is coming to Houston, and Black Cinema Club HTX is kicking off the weekend with the official mixer, presented in partnership with Captiv Studios.
Join us for an evening of intentional networking, meaningful connections and good energy as filmmakers, creatives and film lovers come together ahead of a full weekend celebrating Black cinema.
Enjoy specialty cocktails and sounds by DJ BLOOM + DAYNE throughout the night.

Join Create the Writers Room, Black Cinema Club HTX, Reform Media Group and Captiv Studios for a two-day creative and industry experience with producer and executive Deniese Davis, Issa Rae’s longtime producing partner and co-founder of ColorCreative, this December.
Designed for writers, filmmakers, producers and creatives, the master class will cover career development, producing, navigating the business of entertainment and creating opportunities outside of traditional paths.
Day 1 will also include Peer to Peer: Unfiltered, a candid conversation with Deniese Davis and Courtney Glaudé, Head of Creatives at Tyler Perry Studios and the filmmaker behind BET+’s The Reading. A limited number of attendees can also participate in one-on-one creative or business consultations on Day 2.
